Focusing (Thesis) Energy Economically

No! I haven’t forgotten you, don’t worry. I’ve actually been busy writing my master’s thesis. Inspired by my work at the Embassy and the pandemic I’m looking at the impact of the pandemic on small business in Finland where the response was quite swift and is my other home country. Specifically, I’m looking at what entrepreneurial coping strategies these businesses are deploying with my research following an abductive approach. We know a lot about crises already with many ideas that could be applied but this Coronavirus pandemic is something no one has experienced considering the global scale. So, I want to build and elaborate on known theories and see how it could be adapted and changed. I will keep you all updated on the results hopefully by end of September.

So, that’s the reason I’ve been away from writing here but I promise to come back, tell you about the remaining experiences from the Embassy, the exact moment I knew what I wanted to write my thesis on, my thoughts on the election, and new things I’ve learned from business books and podcasts.

“Fun” Fact: FED will start to focus more on job growth rather than balancing that and inflation. A great read in Andrew Sorkin’s DealBook newsletter from the New York Times (Aug 28 2020)
